Hope for Male Infertility – One Healthy Sperm at a Time

If you or your partner are facing male infertility challenges, you’re not alone. Many couples experience difficulty conceiving due to issues related to sperm quality or quantity. At Urmila IVF, we offer ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)—a highly advanced and effective fertility treatment specifically designed for male-factor infertility.

ICSI has helped thousands of couples become parents, even in cases where conventional IVF has failed. Our team is here to guide you with care, clarity, and compassion—every step of the way.

What is ICSI?

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is a specialized form of IVF where a single, healthy sperm is directly injected into the egg under a high-powered microscope. This technique significantly improves fertilization chances, especially when sperm cannot naturally penetrate the egg due to low count, poor motility, or abnormal shape.

At Urmila IVF, our embryologists perform ICSI with cutting-edge technology in a controlled lab environment to ensure the best possible outcomes.

When is ICSI Recommended?

ICSI is usually recommended in cases such as:

  • Low sperm count (oligospermia).
  • Poor sperm motility or morphology.
  • Previous IVF cycle failures.
  • Use of frozen or surgically retrieved sperm (TESA/PESA).
  • Antisperm antibodies or unexplained infertility.
  • Ejaculation disorders or azoospermia (non-obstructive/obstructive).

If you’ve been told that IVF alone may not be sufficient, ICSI could be your best option.

ICSI vs. IVF – What's the Difference?

While both IVF and ICSI involve egg retrieval and fertilization in a lab, the difference lies in how fertilization is achieved.

  • IVF: Sperm and eggs are combined in a dish and left to fertilize naturally.
  • ICSI: A single sperm is manually injected into the egg under a microscope.

ICSI is especially useful when natural fertilization is unlikely due to male fertility factors.

What to Expect During ICSI Treatment

  • Initial Consultation & Testing: Assessment of both partners’ fertility health through blood tests, semen analysis, and ultrasounds.
  • Ovarian Stimulation & Egg Retrieval: The female partner receives fertility medications. Mature eggs are retrieved using a minor procedure.
  • Sperm Collection & ICSI Procedure: A healthy sperm is selected and injected directly into the egg under microscopic guidance.
  • Embryo Culture & Transfer: Fertilized embryos are monitored in our lab, and the best-quality embryo is transferred into the uterus.
  • Pregnancy Testing: After about 14 days, a blood test confirms pregnancy.
